Grief can change everything. You don’t have to navigate it alone
Compassionate online grief and bereavement counselling for adults across the UK.
Grief, Bereavement & Loss
You don't have to navigate grief alone.
Losing someone we love can change life in ways we never expected. Grief can bring sadness, anger, guilt, loneliness, anxiety, confusion and a sense that life no longer feels quite the same.
Sometimes we may feel lost or overwhelmed. At other times, we may find ourselves functioning well, only to be unexpectedly affected by a memory, anniversary or reminder of the person we've lost.
There is no single way to grieve, and there is no timetable that grief has to follow.
At Brighter Path Counselling, I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk about your loss, your memories, your emotions and the changes that have followed.
You don't need to have the "right" words, and you don't need to know exactly what you need from counselling. We can explore that together.

Grief, Bereavement & Loss
There is no right way to grieve.
Grief is a deeply personal experience. When someone we love dies, we can experience emotions that may be difficult to understand or put into words.
You might feel heartbroken, angry, numb, guilty, anxious or completely lost. You might find yourself struggling with relationships, sleep, concentration, confidence or your sense of purpose.
Or perhaps you feel that you “should” be coping better by now.
You don’t have to.
Grief doesn’t have a timetable
For some people, grief can feel overwhelming immediately after a death. For others, the reality of the loss may time to fully sink in.
Grief can also resurface months or years later. Birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, places, songs, photographs or everyday experiences can unexpectedly bring emotions back to the surface.
This doesn’t mean you are going backwards.
It may simply be part of living with a loss that matters.
You may be grieving the loss of:
A parent
A partner or spouse
A child
A sibling
A close friend
Another important person in your life
Someone whose death was sudden or unexpected
Someone you had a complicated relationship with
Grief isn’t only about losing someone through death
We can experience grief following many kinds of loss, including relationship breakdown, changes in health, loss of identity, changes in circumstances and other significant life changes.
How counselling can help
Counselling can provide a safe space to talk about the things that may feel difficult to share elsewhere.
Together, we might explore
The emotions surrounding your loss
Memories of the person who died
Feelings of guilt, anger or regret
Changes in your identity and relationships
Coping with difficult days and anniversaries
How grief is affecting everyday life
Finding ways to care for yourself
What moving forward might mean for you
Moving forward doesn’t have to mean moving on or forgetting.
It can mean gradually finding a way to live alongside your grief while continuing to carry the love, memories and meaning that remain important to you.
M y approach
I work collaboratively and at your pace.
My counselling approach is person-centred, pluralistic and trauma-informed. This means that we don’t assume there is one correct way to experience or work through grief.
Some sessions may involve talking about your loss and memories. Other sessions may focus on how grief is affecting you now, your relationships, your emotions or how you are coping day to day.
We can explore what feels helpful for you rather than trying to fit your experience into a particular formula.
You don’t have to explain why your loss matters.
Your grief is personal to you.
If your feel ready to talk, I offer online and telephone counselling for adults across the UK.
Brighter Path Counselling
Finding a way forward, while carrying what matters
About Me
I'm Candace, a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
My own experiences of loss have contributed to my understanding of how profoundly bereavement can affect us, and supporting people through grief and bereavement has become an important part of my counselling journey.
I believe that grief is unique to each person. There is no single "right" way to grieve, and no set amount of time in which someone should feel better.
My role is not to tell you how you should grieve, but to offer a safe, compassionate space where you can explore what your loss means to you and how it is affecting your life.
My counselling approach is person-centred, pluralistic and trauma-informed. We work collaboratively, exploring what feels most helpful for you and reviewing our work together as your needs change.
I am also continuing my professional development in grief education through the David Kessler Grief Educator Programme, further developing my knowledge and understanding of grief and loss.
Whether your loss is recent or happened many years ago, you don't have to face it alone.
